Therapeutic Massage in Newark-on-Trent

A personalised approach to helping you move more comfortably

Therapeutic massage is a personalised approach designed around your individual needs rather than a fixed routine. Whether you're experiencing persistent muscular discomfort, tightness, stiffness or restricted movement, I'll assess your needs and tailor the treatment to you.

My aim isn't simply to make you feel better for an hour. I want to help you understand your body, improve how you move and support your recovery.

What is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic massage uses a combination of hands-on techniques selected according to your symptoms, lifestyle and treatment goals.

Unlike a treatment where the same sequence is used for everyone, your session is adapted to the areas that need attention and how your body responds during treatment. Depending on your needs, this may include techniques such as soft tissue work, deeper massage, stretching or other appropriate approaches.

The pressure and techniques used will always be adapted to you. A therapeutic treatment doesn't need to be painful to be effective.

Who is it for?

Who Might Benefit From Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic massage may be suitable if you're experiencing:

  • Persistent muscular discomfort
  • Tight or tense muscles
  • Lower back discomfort
  • Neck and shoulder tension
  • Stiffness or restricted movement
  • Muscular discomfort associated with desk-based work
  • General aches and tension
  • Muscle tightness following physical activity

If you're unsure whether therapeutic massage is appropriate for you, we can discuss your symptoms and goals before deciding on the most suitable approach.

Treatment Tailored to You

I don't believe in treating every person in the same way. Two people can experience discomfort in the same area but need very different approaches.

That's why every appointment begins with a conversation about what you're experiencing, how it affects your everyday life and what you'd like to achieve from treatment.

I'll then adapt the treatment to your individual needs, using the techniques and level of pressure that are appropriate for you.

Your body isn't a template. Your treatment shouldn't be either.

What to Expect

1. Consultation

We'll discuss your symptoms, lifestyle, activities and treatment goals.

2. Assessment

I'll look at the areas causing discomfort and, where appropriate, consider how movement may be contributing to the problem.

3. Personalised treatment

I'll select the most appropriate techniques and adapt the pressure throughout your session.

4. Aftercare

Where appropriate, I'll give you simple advice about movement or self-care that may support your recovery between appointments.

How Can Therapeutic Massage Help?

Depending on the individual, therapeutic massage may help to:

  • Reduce muscular tension
  • Improve mobility
  • Ease muscular discomfort
  • Support recovery after physical activity
  • Promote relaxation
  • Improve awareness of how your body feels and moves

Results vary from person to person, and massage isn't appropriate for every condition. If your symptoms suggest that you need assessment by another healthcare professional, I'll let you know.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is therapeutic massage painful?

It shouldn't be unbearably painful. Treatment pressure is adapted to your individual needs and comfort throughout the appointment.

How long does a therapeutic massage take?

Sessions are available in 45, 60 and 90 min. The most suitable length depends on the areas you want to address and your treatment goals.

How often should I have therapeutic massage?

There isn't a universal schedule. It depends on your symptoms, goals, lifestyle and how your body responds to treatment. We'll discuss what may be appropriate for you.

Can therapeutic massage help with back pain?

Therapeutic massage may help with muscular tension and discomfort affecting the back. However, back pain can have many different causes, so massage isn't appropriate for everyone. If necessary, I'll recommend seeking further professional assessment.

Can I have therapeutic massage if I've never had a massage before?

Absolutely. I'll explain the treatment before we begin and check in with you throughout the appointment so you know what to expect.
